As far as I know they had a good relationship, though the Queen had someone else tell her mother when she agreed to pay taxes, as she knew her mother would be so unhappy about it. The QM was very conservative and no doubt disapproved of some of her daughter's changes. The Queen has co-operated on a number of TV programmes about her life, and her mother used to say 'never let the daylight in on the magic'. But the QM was of a different age, and her daughter was probably right.

They were close, as mother and daughter, but the Queen Mother never had any ideas about how to reign, because she never reigned. She was the royal consort, not the monarch, and had nothing to do with running the kingdom. Queen Elizabeth II, on the other hand, is every inch a monarch and is actively participating in running the kingdom.

They were very close. The Queen Mother had huge influence on Elizabeth and her children although I doubt her daughter ever let her down and I doubt the Queen Mother ever critisized her daughter. The Queen and the Queen Mother spoke to each other every day by telephone.

Queen Elizabeth's mother was not born into royalty; she married King George. So Elizabeth's mother was the royal consort to King George. Prince Philip is the royal consort to Queen Elizabeth. The mother of Queen Elizabeth II never "reigned."

Well, during the war when the present Queen was a teenager, she probably wanted to go to the dance halls like the rest of them and dance with the armed forces and the Americans who supplied nylons. I bet there were a few rows!

I believe they were very close, but they would only be human if they had some differences.
