If you're talking about the movies then it would be hard to change now. Most mafia type people are going to be white and Italian. There is really no way around that.

A mafia movie set in new york involving an italian family is going to be cast with all or mostly all white people. I don't know if it's one of these films or another, but there is a guy who's really excited that his friend is being 'inducted' into one of the families while he is unable to because he's half-Irish instead of full-blood italian. The very word Mafia is an italian word.

I haven't seen the movie, but isn't it based on the Italian Mafia?
It would be kind of odd to have Asian American or African American's as part of the Italian Mafia.... I'm sure they have their own Mafia's/mobs and their own movies.

i assume you posted this because you read the original mario puzzo novel and found out about all the black people and asians that were in the original story and they chose to leave them out of the movie? asians and african americans can definitely handle these roles, i agree. if you listen closely, african americans are mentioned by sonny corleone at the dinner table.

if you do the thing as it was in it's era as a period piece there would be no blacks or asians, they simply did not work for the families at anything higher than street level, if that.
