Bush was an electrifying college RB. Williams was a pretty good DE on a mediocre college football team.

"defense wins championships"

when drafting players teams draft on what the can get out of the player, not whats already there.
remember randy moss came out of Marshall and that team was no good.

Yes. Texans were the first pick so we're talking about team needs here. They have a lot of holes. They have D. Davis at RB. Two years ago everyone thought he would be the next 2,000 yard back. He won't but he is good enough. M. Williams creates a good defensive line and in turn less pressure of the LB's and then DB's. Bush wouldn't be able to do anything because defenses would just stack the line seeing as Carr has no arm of which to speak of and the Texans have no O-Line.

At this point it really looks like the Texans made a very bad pick. Gary Kubiak is an offensive genius, who in Denver got extraordinary rushing stats out of average running backs. Backs like Reggie Bush are rare. Imagine his upside in a Gary Kubiak zone-blocking scheme? Everyone says defense wins championships, but single players don't make defenses great. The Texans still have a lot of building in that aspect. I think no matter how good or bad Mario Williams does, this pick will always be looked at as a failure, unless Reggie Bush has a career ending injury.

Initially it will look like the Texans screwed up when comparing Reggie Bush's stats to Mario Williams' stats. Bush won't be winning any championships in New Orleans. Defense wins championships and defensive ends tend to last longer in the NFL than running backs. In the long run, Williams will turn out to be the better choice.

They blew it
yea they drapted Williams becuse they needed help on Defense but they still need alot more help on Defense
Like some one else already said one player is not going to change that (espessially a rookie)

Every one new that coming into the drapth that no one player was going to solve all thier problems
so I think that with a pick that high that they should have picked the best player in the drapth... Reggie Bush
or they should have traded the pic and get more than one player

if thier deffense was so bad they should have improved it with free agents

Unless Mario Williams puts up Reggie White like numbers after the next 2 seasons, there isn't much upside because Reggie Bush is going to put up Barry Sanders and Emmit Smith like numbers after this season

No because Mario Williams didn't always play his hardest in college. The opposite can be said about Reggie Bush. He always played hard no matter what the score was or who they were playing.

The Texans didn't need a RB, they have Domanick Davis. They needed a defensive end. Simple as that.

No, I think they should have traded that pick. They could have gotten enough picks to re-vamp the offensive line, and get a very good lineman as well. I think Mario Williams is going to be a huge BUST.

i doubt it, mario williams was a very inconsistent player in college, he got all of his sacks in bunches. he would get 4 sacks one game then not get any for another few weeks, then get 3 sacks, etc. maybe he'll prove me wrong though and be a julius peppers type, but i think they wasted their pick on mario though. they should have took reggie bush.
