Get rid of that silly trapezoid thing. That rule is silly and was enacted because there are few good puck-handling goalies but a majority of goalies aren't that great with the puck and won't touch beyond just leaving it for a teammate.
Overall, I've been happy with the rule changes from last season. I think it opened up the game and taking away the idiotic two-line pass rule was great. Obviously, there are coaches and teams that will and have figured out how to "shut things down" with defense but that's a part of the game. We can't have every game be 7-6 but we can have a majority of the games with great flow and action like we saw this past season. I hope it continues that track this season because the playoffs were just a hoot to watch and I don't think there was a dull series.

The shootout doesn't interest me at all. Play 5 min. 4-on-4 then 5 min. 3-on-3 and if nobody wins, nobody gets a point. Or at least stop giving a single point to the OT losers.
No touch icing should be added. I could care less about the safety of the players, they know the risks. I just find waiting for a player to skate back and touch an iced puck extremely boring!
I would also like to add that I love the the enlarged offensive/defensive zones. I really think we will see even better powerplays in the next few years.

I think goalies should be able to handle the puck. Disallowing them to do so is limiting some goalies (Martin Broduer) skill. I don't get how they got the idea of the pentagon thing behind the net. It's stupid!!
If the salary cap counts as a new rule, then I would like to see that changed. If teams like Toronto or Detroit can afford to spend $60 million in salaries then let them!!! Besides it not all about spending, look at the New York Rangers before the lockout. They had ober $70 million in payroll but still missed the playoffs.

If you can recall the "playoff wars" that happened during the mid- to late-80's between Calgary and Edmonton, then that is the type of hockey that I grew to embrace. I started to follow hockey after the Flyers won their first cup, and although I like rough hockey, I really do appreciate the finer skills of the game. That's why I detest the seemingly ceaseless penalty calls. It has me turned off. The Flyers failed to win the cup on their own, but my contention is that the new rules have turned some of us fans off. Now I can't enjoy games between other teams.
I'd also like to see Kerry Fraser retire, the Ducks and Pens get intimidating nicknames, the Pens get a new arena, and Bob Clarke and Ed Snider move their thinking into the 21st century.
The league needs to reduce the amount of teams, I can't stand parity. Even though the Habs, Isles, and Oilers have enjoyed steady championship runs at the expense of my Flyers, I didn't feel put off by the emergence of dynasties.

Not really a "rule" but I'd like to see longer suspensions and possible life bans for any hits to the head, hits driving guy's heads into the boards and for any Make Belief player who gets a minor penalty,
Changed--get rid of that stupid trapezoid behind the net. Let goalies play the puck anywhere period. I can't see how that livened up the game at all. If you want to stop goalies handling the puck, flip it into the corner or stop dumping it in. I think it's a dumb rule that penalizes goalies who developed the skill to pass the puck up and start attacks.

Get rid of the delay of game when a defenseman shoots it over the glass in his own zone. Cheap power play, and rarely is it done on purpose.
Let goalies handle the puck wherever they want, and get rid of the trapezoid.
And take down the dang net behind the goals! Having that net up would not have saved that poor young girl a few years ago anyway, since she was seated near center ice.

I'm not a big fan of the shootout, but I guess it beats a dull five-minute overtime where neither team presses for a victory. Maybe they could instead make overtime 3-on-3 or something, to create some seriously open ice.
I love the other rules, and the improvement they've had on the game has been enormous. Last season was the most enjoyable hockey I've seen since the early 1990s, and I expect it to continue getting better as players adjust to the new rules.

The shoot out sucks , it is a team sport so I want a team to decide the outcome.I would like them to let the goalies handle the puck again and the penalty for having the puck go over the glass even if it is unintentional sucks.
There needs to be more penalties called for crashing the net/goalie.

All the rule changes are very gay. I liked hockey just the way it was. Now, we've lost all those tough, scrappy games that were played when I was a kid. I remember all those old playoff games that resulted in people getting beat up and all stitched up. What the NHL wants is a fast paced high scoring game. Bring the red-line back! We've lost the very essence of the game: GRIT AND DETERMINATION!!!
