Any property which deviates from the normal and expected properties is known as anomalous behaviour

Some thing out side of the normal activity of what ever is being observed.

Example: For months your dog when playing with his tail has chased it in only a clockwise direction. Then one day he chases it in a counter-clockwise direction. Then for months returns to his original behavior of chasing it in a clockwise direction. The single action of chasing his tail in a counter-clockwise direction is an anomalous behavior.

Second example: One of the planets in orbit around the sun has had an absolutely perfect record of not deviating from its orbit. One day the planet moves out of its predicted orbit deviating from the normal orbit. (of course this will cause great alarm to an astronomer because that means that something has pulled it out of its orbit, meaning a big mass, and he is going to have/need to find out what the big mass is but that is a different story) That deviation of the planet from its orbit is an anomalous behavior.

It's something that deviates from the regular habits (properties in case of chemistry).
In simple words anomalous also means abnormal.

eg: If you had a rich friend and if he comes to your school in different cars daily(each day one).And if he usually comes in Benz on Mondays,Clio on Tuesdays and so on......On a fine Monday you expect him to come in Benz but he turns out in Clio,then that means he was anomalous that day(apart from usual).

this is because of the introduction of d-orbitals..........
this reduces the screening of the outermost electrons from the nucleus.................
hence resulting in anomalous behaviour........i.e. it does'nt follow the said convention of the series........
