ITS DONE BY THE OB GYM
AND IT DOES NOT HURT AT ALL
I HAVE IT IN FOR 3 YEARS NOW
AND ITS VERY EFFECTIVE

It doesn't hurt when its in and is maybe a little uncomftable when your having it fitted, as said before, similer to a smear test.
Once in place all should be fine.
Some people have had problems with it slipping out of place slightly, but you should know as im sure it would be uncomftable if this happend.
Best thing is to talk to your Doctor, if its too painfull while he/she is fitting it just ask them to stop.

its a bit like having the smear when you 1st get get it fitted

It depends on your body and how you take care of your self .it can be but if it is infected
