definitely!
afterall.....a restaurant charges us for every small thing...be it the service...the ambience...the interiors...music...lightings....every small bit of it!
so when we are taking food out as a parcel...they should curtail all those service charges....and give a real good discount!
That was the View from a customer's side...if we see from the restaurant owner's view...they actually don't give much big discounts on carry home foods for the simple reason....that if all are going to take parcels along...who shall sit and eat in the restaurant...for whose maintainance and publicity they are spending lot of money!
But,am a consumer...so i favour heavy discounts on take-along foods!

Yes. Take out should cost less because it means no service charge, no extra use of the restaurant's space or utilities (water, elec, heating, etc), allows for other dine in customers.

Not really. The cost of the packaging for the take out is offset by the dish cleaning expense if you eat in, so level playing field!

That's a good idea, maybe it should cost less, because you're not taking up space and that's one less bunch of dishes they'll have to wash, etc. But think of it this way: you're already getting out of a tip.

I don't think it should cost less but it really ticks me off when people want a tip for handing me my take out food.

Cost less--No
It usually comes out to less because you don't order drinks and you usually don't have to leave a tip or as big of a tip that you would leave if you were eating in.

I think it should. Part of the price of your meal covers overhead, which includes the costs associated with having the dining room.If you're not making use of it why pay for it?

Exactly, WHY! Eating it there just means more problems for them -- messes, restroom issues, etc... They would rather you go away with the food and make the mess in your vehicle.
