I have two children, 14 yrs & 1 yr, I aked the first time but the problem is, you would never be able to get the amount of blood from your finger needed to run all test neccessary to make sure you and your baby are health. So, my advice to you is, bite the bullet, get the needles and focus on what's gonna keep you relaxed when those contractions hit your butt ;)

there are different test that require different amounts of blood for example blood culture requires a large amount but a iron level test can be done on your finger tip ! most of the test they will do are of great benefit to you and baby giving you and the doc tons of info on whats happening with you and baby ! its never fun to get blood drawn but in the long run it can save you some bigger problems!

Actually, I don't think they could get enough blood from your fingertips and, since the blood would come in contact with the skin, they would have a hard time getting a sterile sample.
