You don't want something tall, tarantulas die from falls (unless they are arboreal), a five gallon tank is fin for all types. If you get a burrowing tarantula, you will need a 5 gallon tank half filled with something like coconut fiber (eco earth), but I use things like petrified wood and driftwood, succulent cacti (non-spiny) and the occasional silk plant.

Don't forget you need a heat source unless you live somewhere that is really temperate all winter long. Ask your pet store person about a small heat lamp or heat rock....
