I have strep throat and a basic common cold (stuffy nose, coughing, head congestion). What's the best drink for me to sip on during the day to help keep my body hydrated? I had been drinking water, but then I was told that Gatorade is better. Which drink really IS best to drink to help you stay hydrated and feeling a little more human?

Tea with lemon and honey, or just lemon and honey in hot water (if you don't like tea or don't want the caffeine) are great when your throat hurts. There are also some yummy teas from Yogi Teas and from Celestial Seasonings like Throat Coat or Sore Throat Tea that will make you feel much better.

As for the water/Gatorade debate, it comes down to this: If you are having trouble keeping fluids and food in (from vomiting, nausea or diarrhea) then definitely go with an electrolyte drink (although Gatorade has a lot of sugar too and there are others like PowerAde that have less sugar).

If you are keeping fluids in just fine, then water is fine because you are getting the electrolytes (like sodium and potassium) from other things you are drinking and eating.

Good luck and feel better soon. I hope this helps!

I would really avoid Gatorade when you are sick, it's not like you've been working out hard or something... it's got extra stuff in there to replenish those depleted chemicals.

I would stick to water and ice tea. Ice tea really soothes a sore throat well :)

Hope you feel better.

If I genuinely have a chilly or sinus an infection, I genuinely must have warm and bitter soup. not purely is it fowl-depending, even if it will sparkling the sinuses good out. If it truly is the flu, which i have not had considering i turned right into a baby, I remembe Campbells fowl noodle. If I only experience out of varieties and fewer than the elements, i choose a huge tacky hashbrown breakfast casserole, it truly is the staggering convenience nutrition.

Coconut juice. you can get it at wal-mart on the Latino isle, it is a Goya name brand. let it chill drink the whole soda sized can and in 30 - 45 min. you will be as good as new, with no side effects unless you are allergic to coconut, then I would try the above suggestion(s).

i drink water and coke. the coke makes you feel slightly better because of the caffiene and it makes me cough up flem. gatorade is fine too but it doesn't have caffiene - just the sugar.
