Go to volunteer and meet others that work there. You should find that they really do care about the animals health and well being. If one of the animals causes you concern maybe you can talk to their handler to get some more insight to the animals situations.
Go to the local animal shelter. That will depress you knowing the ones in those cages are most probably going to die.

hmmm. at our zoo in mn it's very quite nice, they love their animals. they take great care of them.
they train dolphins and they have treats ready and balls they can play with, and they are pretty spoiled. they also have an big old water aquarium for them to go swimming and have a great time. the zoo people even go swimming with them and go diving too!
i see you are pretty sensitve. why dont you try and call the zoo or stop in and tell them about what you saw and your frustration.
but they would not really have a chance out in the wild. if they are distinct then they would more than likely die. good thing we have zoo's!

Yes if the animals are unhappy I feel it. I have been to some zoos where the animals were happy. Those zoos are nice. I love an aquarium where the dolphins are happy. I sit and watch them play for hours. You are sensitive huh?

Many zoo animals are rescues that are cared for VERY well and would have died a horrible death if it were not for the zoo. Look into it.
If you want to feel badly, go to the circus. I never EVER go to them, that is constant horrible mistreatment. At the zoo, they get great medical care, appropriate habitats and food.

oh shut up animals don't have souls. And even if they did, they would still not be miserable in the zoo. It's a pocher and danger free habitat for them.

You shouldnt, the cute cuddly little bunnies, and deer you see would be eaten to death in the wild. I dont know about your zoo, but the one by me, is HUGE.... they dont really have "pens" its more like 2 miles of space per "habitat"

i am not sure but i think most of the animals have problenms and they would die of they set them in the woods
