Myrtle Beach, SC.

It is a tourist town, which gives it a lot to do. I grew up in the SF Valley, when Orange County was dairy farms and Orange Trees. It is still boring.

Check out Myrtle Beach on the Web - tons of things to do.

That, of course, depends on how you define best. However, you might consider Austin Texas.

Its regarded as one of the most politically and socially liberal cities in the United States. It has one of the largest number of music venues anywhere in the world.

It is part of the "Silicon Gulch" the second largest number of high tech companies in the country and is the home of the University of
Texas, great football team and one of the best law schools around.

There is no income tax in Texas and the cost of living is a fraction of what it is in California. Housing in Texas is dirt cheap compared to California.

And, if everything goes well, Kinky Friedman will soon be the Governor of the State (and he promises to make Willie Nelson part of his cabinet).

Definitely - for me so far (and I lived in South Africa and Ghana) it would have to be where I am right now: Auckland New Zealand. There is virtually no crime, the people are REALLY nice and you have the city with all it's comforts, but with a smaller town feel?

Orange County is a city? I thought it was a county. The best city to live in is anywhere in Canada. Mostly because we don't have Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld..............................

I've answered a similar question before, so here is what I said then:

My answer was: Albuquerque NM.

Not too big, not too small.
Great climate (sometimes a bit hot in summer).
No natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes.
Great cultural mix (Anglo/Hispanic).
First class university (UNM) on one of the most beautiful campuses in the U.S.
etc. etc.

Go check it out yourself!

According to Money Mag. it's Ft. Collins, CO. I live about an hour away from it and it is a nice place to live. They have a pretty killer skate park as well.
