If I give someone my account number and routing number and the name of my bank, could they wire money directly into my account somehow? Is it possible? I am trying to sell something via online auction and need the money tonight but all the merchant services need either account verification (takes up to four days) or have a three day transition period transferring the funds to your actual bank account.
If someone had my account number and routing number they would not be able to withdraw but only deposit right? So would this work, just giving it to them for a direct wire the moment they buy the item? I'm selling on eBay and would of course warn them this is the method of payment beforehand.
Thanks for the answer to what seems like an obvious question. I'm just a bit ignorant on this one....

Ummm........you need to set up a pay pal account. Never give anyone your Account number or routing number, they CAN withdraw money out of your account. Go to www.paypal.com and set up an account to use on ebay.

I don't know if that is possible unless perhaps they have an account at the same bank and the bank allows transfers of this nature but what I have done is deposit money directly into relatives accounts at a branch of thier bank using thier account number.

Those numbers are like the combination to a safe. Don't give them away unless you really know and trust the merchant!
A paypal account can work very fast and eliminates the need for wire transfers.

Short answer: yes they can wire it to your account with that information; and no, they can't withdraw.
If they go to the same Bank as you, even if it's a different branch, they can use that same information to deposit the money to your account.

Do yourself a favor and wait 3-4 days while you set up a Paypal account.

Actually a faster way is to have them send you money through Western Union. It is almost instant and will keep your account secure.

pass to the submit workplace and deliver a 'money Gram' the guy is going into any economic business enterprise in Morocco and would have the money interior minutes of you paying it into the submit workplace. additionally they do no longer cost the guy on the different end for recieving the money, it in basic terms expenses you a small quantity to deliver it. it is speedy and common to do.. sturdy luck...
