Your fan isn't working.
The thermostat kicks in when the water temperature reaches a certain point. Then, the radiator fan starts working. Maybe it's the fan that's not working.
The other possibility is that your radiator may have a leak and it's running low on water or coolant, and that will cause your car to overheat. That or you may have a leaky hose somewhere that you'll need to get replaced.
When you park you car after driving, check to see under it if there are any wet spots. That will tell you if you have any leaks.
GOOD LUCK

How do you know it's running hot. Don't expect white smoke to be coming out of the tail pipe all the time. Usually on cold mornings.
Is your temperature gauge showing close to the red line? Older cars tend to run hotter as the radiator ages over time and can't keep up with cooling the engine. Even though you had the radiator flushed, the lack of improvement in cooling could mean time to get a rebuilt radiator.

When it gets hot is the cooling fan running? If it is not then you need to check the fan motor or the thermo switches. You are lucky there is no white smoke or water vapor coming from exhaust pipe. Thomas S.

i would go to a local repair shop and have then do a pressure check on the coolient system to see if there any leaks you cant see just because there is no white smoke and the coolient is staying in the system you may have a hairline fracture in your head or gasket so small its not showoing full sines of a haed gasket issue thats what the pressure check is for to determine if there are internal leaks

Is it overheating? If not, then don't worry about it. It could just be a faulty indicator on the dashboard. Have a GOOD mechanic look at it. Also, check the coolant temperature and compare it to what the owner's manual says it should be. Don't sweat it! Ha, ha, get it. Don't sweat it!!

A few things: Could have been air bound and now the level is too low, the thermostat could have been put in backwards, the new thermostat could be hanging up.

check the work done on your water pump...
check to make sure there is coolant in it because they might have screwed up when they sealed the water pump to the gasket.
usually a lack of coolant or bad or worn lubricant in the engine will make it run hot.

are you sure that the belts are ok? If the fan clutch is not working right to move the fan, the car will run hot and you can blow out your engine.
or it could be that you need a new temp. gauge.

I had to replace my radiator. We also did the flush. Mine is a 1986 300zx. It is a job to replace them just incase you want to know, it takes a long time and not much room.
