I did it for 18 months.
But if I told you why I'd have to kill you.

Done it. Stressfull time though. Was firmly sat on my bum for well over 18 months. You become very inventive through boredom. The girlfriend at the time left in the early stages, but after that though things went alright for a while. It came to its climax when I had managed to run up 800pounds of electricity, 600 of water and about a grand in council tax. My television was at a friends house as I got scared of the red letters from the tv licensing people. And I think it had been a long while since I had eaten. Between waking from bouts of unconscioussness and loud bangs on my front door, I realized I should make my way out of the back. Lucky for me I had a plane ticket to another country as I saw ex and her father shouting profanities at the window. Now I live in the carribean. In actual fact, 3 years later I'm still pretty much doing nothing to earn a living. My hotel puts me up and feeds me. I get a nice shiny uniform and ocassionally venture to the nearest pub for a game of darts. All this for teaching guests how to catch crabs and fish for tuna. I'd probably get shot if I went back to England though.

In England where i live you could stay at home and not work for 2yrs or more just living off the governments money-if you claim benefits, child support money or disability money- and working peoples money (taken off them as taxes). Which has become an increasing controversial corrupt issure making unemployed people comfortable with being unemployed.

Through choice or what!!
I've never had that amount of time out of work, but I know some people can't get work. On the other hand if I won the lottery you wouldn't see me for dust and I would be out of work for the rest of my life - wanna job if I win on Saturday night.

Yes I did for about 15 months. But, you had to have been working before that and saved enough to not work for a year. Or you have a partner whom you live with (husband, boyfriend, significant other) and they work and make enough to maintain you both.
My other half stayed home for more than a year too to finish up college, but I was earning sufficiently to allow such a break.
It all comes down to dollars and SENSE: meaning you have to save your money and use it wisely. You have to control your urge to splurge!

Lots of people. Some want a job but can't find one and others can find jobs but don't want them.
I work 14 hours or more a day, but I don't have a "job".
As Ray Bradbury once said: "Find something you love to do, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

I've done it and for a whole lot longer than a year. Never got bored. If I win the lottery I'll never have a paid job again. And I will not get bored for sure!

Here in America we have whole generations of people who have never ever worked. They are taken care of by the government. They live in government housing, receive food stamps, wics cards and get a welfare check every month. On election day they are picked up, fed a box lunch and taken to the polls where they are told who to vote for. Almost all vote Democratic. America.....You gotta love it.

I tried it for 18 years. I had a maid, butler, chef, and a chauffeur. Then I graduated from High School, joined the Marine Corps and got a new "Mom & Dad".
