For music, deffinitely. I download movies from torrents because you cannot find as much music there, but for movies is way better. However, keep in mind it is illegal in some countries.

Pony up $5/month and try Yahoo! Music Engine. You'll pay 79 cents per song to keep them forever. It's legal and you won't get viruses and screwed up songs like you will with Limewire and friends.

Well
I really like Limewire, I'm actually an avid user of it. If I want to download a music file I use Limewire always. you should get limewire too. It's a good peer to peer software if you have to download mp3, movies, videos or documents. Here you can find a good place where to download Limewire: http://bitly.com/VMexAV
Limewire is a safe and reliable program but like all peer to peer program you have to be careful of what you are donwloading from it. You always have to be cautious about what you download.
Don't use torrents/downloads from other sites, they might be backdoored.

Try BitTorrent, it's a fairly new technology.
http://www.bittorrent.com/
You install BitTorrent, then download a client like BitTornado (http://www.bittornado.com), then you download *.torrent files from the bittorrent site (or other bittorrent search engine). Downloads are much faster and more reliable.
