You could do it that way but, you will need to make some sort of filler panel to seal the opening above the unit. Make sure that whatever you use for the panel that it's strong-enough to help support the unit and hold up to weather.

Yes, but it's a custom installation because you have to fill in above it. There is a special A/C unit that is actually designed to be used in a sliding window, but I can't remember who makes it... GE, perhaps.?

does it make any since ,and is the glass still there or broken out .
