Would a civil war in Iraq be a blow to the extremists as Sunnis and Shiites slaughter each other and destabilize Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Lebanon, UAE, Kuwait, Pakistan, etc.?

You are right, my fellow colleague answerers missed a very important point. There are two Muslim factions, the extremists who don't care of dying because for a cause (Whether that cause is narrow or not) and the moderates who are more open to alternative ways of non-violence to resolve conflicts.

In the past, extremism has indeed caused a lot of disorders and many lives have been lost along with billions worth of property. As you said, take a look at Jordan, etc.

Bin Laden would indeed be more useful when he is still alive.

Do not for one moment imagine or believe that extremism and all horrors of terrorism will come to an end when Bin Laden breathes his last. This is a dangerous virus which will multiply in geometric proportions.Bin laden's death will not change matters. They do not consider extremism as dumb. Instead they think it is just and right to fight in the service of their religion which they perceive is being trampled under American jack boots. No one is worried how many are killed. They think and believe all those who sacrificed their life in a religious war will instantly enter Heaven and 72 virgins are waiting for them. Such is the blind faith. Neither a common Muslim or their Clerics dam care about civil war in Iraq and its long term implications. Except for the oil wealth which has accrued to them not because of any struggle or innovation they have nothing to show. Only time will tell what is in store for the future.

No, Muslims either don't care, are afraid of consequences, or don't get it about extremism within their community to criticize or fight it.

Unfortunately for the modern world, the Muslims have been conditioned by their dictatorial regimes to have one thought, the same as the regime. There is no spectrum of opinions in the Muslim world, there is no freedom of expression, freedom of thought, freedom to live life freely (exception is in Turkey).

It's time for Muslims to take accountability for their religion and culture. Stop spinning, and address the fact that the Muslim culture is one of the most oppressive and violent cultures, against its own people, and certainly against other cultures.

For those who believe that the extremist element in Islam is small, the numbers are staggering. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in this world. Lets take a very liberal view that only a very small percentage of Muslims are exterme, while the rest of the Muslim world is very peaceful. So if only 10% of Muslims have extreme point of views, and may be a threat, and must be dealt with, meaning dealing with 120 million Muslims! How about 1%? Then you must deal with 12 million Muslims. How about 1/10 of a percent? Then you must deal with 1.2 million Muslims. The numbers are staggering! How do you propose dealing with even the "very low" figures of 1.2 million Muslim extremists?

It would be to the benefit the World to rid of Hezbollah, Hamas, the Syrian and Iranian regime. It must be done to finally have a chance for peace in the world.

Islamofascism must be eradicated.
