Yes, aside from Hezbullah entering Israeli soil, killing 8 and kidnapping 2 soldiers (as if that is not enough!), Israel has been terrorized by Islamofascist groups such as Hezbullah and Hamas, sponsored by Syria and Iran for decades.

Israel wants peace and recognition of its existence. The Muslim extremists, including Syria and Iran regimes want Israel wiped off the face of the earth, and have repeatedly said so. Israel has absolutely no interest in claiming Lebanon, or any other Arab country.

The Muslim world has missed every opportunity to make peace with Israel. When a Muslim country and brave leader did make peace with Israel (the late Egyptian President Anwar al-Sadat), he was assassinated by Iranian-backed group.

Unfortunately for the modern world, the Muslims have been conditioned by their dictatorial regimes to have one thought, the same as the regime. There is no spectrum of opinions in the Muslim world, there is no freedom of expression, freedom of thought, freedom to live life freely (exception is in Turkey).

It's time for Muslims to take accountability for their religion and culture. Stop spinning, and address the fact that the Muslim culture is one of the most oppressive and violent cultures, against its own people, and certainly against other cultures.

For those who believe that the extremist element in Islam is small, the numbers are staggering. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in this world. Lets take a very liberal view that only a very small percentage of Muslims are exterme, while the rest of the Muslim world is very peaceful. So if only 10% of Muslims have extreme point of views, and may be a threat, and must be dealt with, meaning dealing with 120 million Muslims! How about 1%? Then you must deal with 12 million Muslims. How about 1/10 of a percent? Then you must deal with 1.2 million Muslims. The numbers are staggering! How do you propose dealing with even the "very low" figures of 1.2 million Muslim extremists?

Israel must be given the opportunity to continue the work to destroy the terrorist group Hezbollah up to its leader. It would be to the benefit of Lebanon, Israel, the Middle East, and the World to rid of Hezbollah, Hamas, the Syrian and Iranian regime. It must be done to finally have a chance for peace in the region and the world.

Islamofascism must be eradicated.

Hezbella under estimated Israels response to their hostage plan. They thought because Israel agreed to a hostage exchange in the past it would work this time around. This turned out to be a major tactical blunder on their part, something they will think twice about doing again in the future. The Lebanon government bears some responsibility for what has happened and it had better learn its lesson this time around. Keep track of what is going on in your backyard or someone else will.

mimrocka, YOU need to read more and watch tv less. you don't know what you are talking about. israel is tired of being terrorized, just like the rest of the world is. if it can be stopped , it's probably a good idea. there was supposed to be a peace treaty in place, yet hamas thought it was okay to infiltrate israel, kidnap a couple of soldiers, and a civillian, put the civillian to death, and say " if you don't do what we want, this is what you can expect". they threw out the peace treaty, after israel withdrew fom the gaza strip, in accordance with the peace treaty. lebanon allowed hamas to launch missiles into israel from lebanon, because iran pays lebanon money to allow this. lebanon is not innocent.if you sign a peace treaty, you stick to it. it's your word.it's your honor to do so. if you don't, why expect the other country to take whatever it is you want to do to them? unrealistic.

Well for one thing, unlike EDDie, I ain't no yank n I ain't a muslim BUT I've lived in Sweden (my primary school friends were refugees of the Iraqi-Iran war 1980-1988), Malaysia (an ethnically mixed country of 80% Malays; muslims, 15% Chinese; christians, buddhist, 5% Indians; Tamil, Hindu, Sikh, Christian etc. etc. and my passport can be used in all the land except Israel cause my bugger government doesn't officially recognise it still) and now I'm living in good ol' down under aka Australia, home to a few million muslims and a few 100,000 Israelis and place of the Cronula riots in Sydney last year when all the larrikin hooligans went bashing every muslim they could find (though any true blue Aussie of my generation - born in the late 80's - would tell you that you haven't experienced OZ by a 100% if you haven't had a kebab here) so all the above granted, I suppose that I'm a self-declared qualified speaker on this issue.

Islam, is actually a very tollerant religion. I'm not American yet I've seen more American marines, soldiers, air men and sailors treat muslims with respect because they are at the frontline and they know like I do from first hand experience, that they can't do much about their country because its just SO different. You can't judge people by a militaristic point of view. To firmly understand a people, u have to understand their history, their poor foodless, waterless, electricless lives thanks to you colonials/imperialists. The Brits and the French made sure that white man was to hated all over the non-white world. Now the Americans are doing it too. "Thats not my fault, its the President's fault!!!" you might say...well, its just the same mate. All countries have governments whose leaders have ruled for too long because of weak opposition and the people are too oppresed to stand up. You want muslims to rise up? lol Look at the Gulf War. George Bush Sr. didn't extend military assistance to the Shiite and Kurds when he told them to rise up, and Saddam did a good job of burrying 100's of thousands of them out in the desert.

Authoritarian or Totalitarian governments like the Iranian and Syrian regimes have secret police, obviously you can't do anything to fight them, like a German would know never to stand up to the Gestapo or SS. So what alterior motives would Israel have? Their pride ofcourse! For one thing, given the fact that their pretty much stuck there, yeah, Israelis should be recognised and the Arabs should stop being so sore over history because they only delay progress by doing so BUT the United Nations post WW2 carved up the world without any cultural understandings which ofcourse they wouldn't have given a damn about due to the emerging Cold War of the time. They divided Korea at the 38th Parallel, Vietnam at the 17th Parallel, created Israel from Palestinean land, created Asian, African and Arabian countries of people with different ethnicity, culture, food, religion and thus the 20th century became the most war mongering one in modern history.

Like Asia and Africa, the middle east has been oppresed by the West for 100's of years and proud people as they are, the Arabs reflect on history and feel sore. They feel sore that they can get bombed each day and no one goes to help them except terrorists. They are sore that civilians are caught in the crossfire of the war for hearts and minds. They are sore that their countries have been invaded, freed and invaded again. Africa is just a beautiful but sad place with 25 million AIDS victims with little development in places other than South Africa (this is a generalisation because I have no experience in Africa so don't take this to heart) and Asia has pretty much f***ed history for economic success and political alliances for the comfort of its citizens (and ofcourse, for greedy access to international markets, wanting a voice in the international community etc.) but all in all, of all the third world countries, we all know the Middle East is like a short fuse. You've gotta realise, the Middle East combined is even smaller in landmass than the United States. Doesn't matter if you're a farmer in Kansas, a rancher in California, an entrepaneur in Seattle or a government worker in Washington; terrorists mess with New Yorkers, they mess with all of you. So, it doesn't matter if the Middle East is divided into 20 odd countries; u mess with an Arab they all feel angry. Same with Israel. Did you know that almost every family has a son or daughter in the IDF due to regulatory 2 year national service like South Korea and Singapore does? This means that like the ANZACs of Australia and New Zealand, the Israeli's are always concerned of how 'our boys and girls' have done. In fact, the Israelis are proud of their military with their honestly cool and highly armoured Merkava IV tanks, like Americans are proud of their military due to its history, combat record, M4 Shermans, M1 Abrams, M1 Garands, M16's, M2/M3 Bradleys, maybe not HMMWV Humvees so much anymore lol, Strykers, Nimitz aircraft carriers, V-22 Ospreys, AH-64 Apache's, AH-1 Cobra's, UH-60 Blackhawks etc.. Remember Mogadishu, Somalia 1993 aka Black Hawk Down? Thats what this conflict was to Israel; a highly technologically advanced first world standard military fighting a band of uneducated rebel skinnies aka BIG pride and positive media turnout on the line, and ofcourse, the mission (and if you haven't done enough of history, you should know that the first casualty of war is always the truth). I can tell you this though; on the extremist side of Islam, someone die for their country (even by getting bombed by you or Israeli's - doesn't matter, bombs come from you anyway) he/she is turned into into a blessed martyr, good on him! bring it on, send some more dumbos to kill the infidels! . In proud western style organised and tradtionally and historically rich militaries however, when a soldier goes MIA or is KIA, he/she is turned into an honourable innocent kid doing their bid for their country whose loss everyone should feel, thus high lighting Israel's behaviour.

Therefore, besides the Arabs already being pissed off at the very existance of the Israelis, Israel is pissed off too because Sharon has done quite some many nice things that was pretty revolutionary; like no other leader, he withdrew from the Gaza strip and from some locations in the West Bank, dragging along extremist settler Jews back into their border and almost comitting political suicide because half the country was too proud to accept stepping down from the Arabs but he did it anyway. But obviously, the Arabs don't feel Israel is doing enoughand so Israel thinks the Arabs are a tad too much, especially with Iran yapping off (though it is OBVIOUSLY rethoric; do you really think anyone would nuke anyone in our modern world? NO! the United Nations would create a multinational force faster than you can say "holy moly kebabs and camels!!!" All Iran and Syria has to do is let terrorists go into Iraq and wreck havoc, train them, provide weapons or financial aid since Iran is Shiite and 70% Iraqi's are Shiite. And thats important too cause since Muhammad introduced Islam, the minority Sunni muslims have always ruled the majority Shiite, to their embarrasment, for 1,000's of years) and so when Hezbollah ticks off Israel, this time around in 'justified combat' Israel is basicly showing off that no one messes with them. Kind of a symbolic message to Iran and Syria too though hopefully Mossad have some agents there to do things under wraps. Besides that, Israel has really struggled for acceptance, the Arabs don't even recognise the Holocaust cause they say its an infidel concoction and the West is obsessed with protecting Israel and Israel knows that. Israeli success is crucial to please Washington over its military deterrant (a majority, especially the precision guided bombs we saw destroying homes and bridges for the past month, come from American military aid) and destroying Hezbollah for an upper hand in the War on Terror (which is as useless as the War on Drugs and the containment of communism because though we are made of mortal bones and flesh, ideals never die). So there you go, despite my lengthy boring lecture (though i personally have to say that I could lecture you for days on this topic), those are Israel's alterior motives but do remeber, everyone is proud, everyone is pissed and such a situation creates a mood where no one basicly gives a s*** anymore. They just wanna kick *** so bad like post 9/11 America (though ofcourse America ain't so keen anymore with more than 2, 000 body bags arrived and still arriving home and alot other left legless, armless, half blind, amnesia or long/short term memory loss due to brains smashing into the skull from explosive force of IED's etc. (Improvised Explosive Device). Also, losing to a rag tag band of terrorists (although they R more organised than you may have been led to believe), would prove politically and militarily embarrasing and lead to increased popular support for Hezbollah at home (though ironically, dealing with Hezbollah true military engagement proves to provide the same reprimands). All in all, looking at all these conflicts require deep historical research and knowledge of cultural background; read some books, use wikipedia, watch some Kevin Sites, Syrriana and Michael Moore's documentaries and for God's sake, put yourself in those poor people's shoes before you yap off about Israelis or Arabs because at the end of the day, every civilian in any country are being used as pawns in the agendas of governments and corporations. Lastly though, don't get too caught up with the media war, all they care about are ratings. You want the truth, just use your brains and neutral thought AND extremist muslims are the result of being oppressed thus inspired by bold actions like al-Qaeda who dare to speak out against western oppression (though I know they are sore buggers who don't know how to get over it and move on) and they are also inspired by fake, stupid imams who brainwash these easily influenced kids with a sickly twisted version of Islam that allows them to kill even their fellow muslims. And even if the ones who inspired the extremist uprisings are long gone, if their minions buy it, it doesn't matter if the Imam lied about God. Remember, faith is powerful (i'm atheist by the way lol)...and geopolitics is a really messed up landscape that can't be answered by these few unorganised words of a stream of conciousness writing that I've written.
