Halfway thru the month; every two months would be "bimonthly." Bi is two, semi is half. So semimonthly is on the 15th.

What Does Semi Monthly Mean

Semi-monthly = twice a month; usually on the 15th and then the last day of the month.

Bi-weekly = every two weeks (different from semi monthly cuz there are 4.2 weeks in the avereage month)

semi means half so it's every 2 weeks or fortnightly
bi-monthly means 2 so that's every other month

Twice a month. Whatever this event is, it occurs twice a month, as opposed to bi-weekly when you sometimes have 5 weeks in a month.
