Instead, the New Europe relies on market networks that place cooperation above competition; promotes a new sense of citizenship that extols the well-being of the whole person and the community rather than the dominant individual;

The Bush administration's elimination of the middle-class kills the American Dream. The poor have little to no chance of obtaining it and the rich are already living it!

Good speech. Many would disagree on your opinion of the EU. The American Dream is still alive and well. All it takes is getting up and getting out. Half of success is just showing up.
