It depends on if your jewelry is real Sterling Silver or costume jewelry.

For Sterling Silver, toothpaste works best! Soak your jewelry in warm water for approx. 5 minutes, then use an old toothbrush and any toothpaste to scrub and shine your jewelry. Soak again for a few minutes, then use a hand towel to dry. This also works for gold, diamonds, and precious gems. However, do not try this on pearls or opal! It will ruin them beyond repair.

For costume jewelry or anything 'silver plated,' there isn't much you can do to get the shine back. When you buy new costume jewelry, though, you can give it a fine coat of clear nail polish to make it last longer before it tarnishes.

Get an aluminum sheet which will slot interior the bottom of a field. positioned the jewellery on the plate interior the sector and canopy with a answer of Calgon water softener and water. The tarnish will vanish leaving a surprising shine. Wipe with delicate textile or polish textile. you could also purchase a silver dip in a jar from a jewellery shop or earrings branch. only dip, dry, then wipe with delicate textile.

You may think of this as weird, but here is what I do:

Put all ur silver jewelry in a pot with water and some dishwashing LIQUID (note: LIQUID, no powderery types), bring to a boil on the stove and let it cook for how long u want. Just make sure to check it from time to time so that the water doesn't damp away (I left mine standing too long once and I almost burnt my jewelry LOL). You can also keep adding water as well.

By the way only seems to work on real SILVER/GOLD jewelry. Don't try it on fakes.

Ive tried toothpaste an its ok but the best way ever is go to a jewlers an ask for polish. thats what i did. it comes in a gray pot (cant remember the name sorry) and its got liquid inside that smells horrible an theres a lil white basket thing you put your jewlery in for bout 15 seconds then take out an you gotta rinse it in warm soapy water. it works so well cuz after i used it my silverware is sparkling. id be lost without it. so just go ask the jewlers an theyll help you.

If you don't have silver jewelery cleaner. Get a old tooth brush and white tooth paste and gently clean them, then let them sit in warm water for a few seconds, and then dry them. Watch your stuff turn nice again.

Believe it or not you can actually use toothepaste to clean your silver jewelry. I use it to clean that dark build up off of my silver chain. It works great.

Otherwise you gotta grab some jewelry polisher.

Wright's Silver Cream--works on sterling, pewter, or sterling plate, and FAST. The only place I've found it at is Kroger's, so hopefully you have one. Great stuff.

they make those great disposable dry wipes for silver jewelry available at your local wal-mart (in the jewelry dept)...that's what i use. it just takes a little buffing with one of those and all the yucky residue will come right off!
