Because you are in a hurry to get some where. The traffice nevers moves for me when I need to be somewhere or I hit every red light in the city.

Usually it's because of some rich tourist from the North who doesn't have a clue that rush hour is from 7am until 9am and has no idea at all where he's going. Probably driving a Cadillac with the left turn signal on.

Because there are not enough people car- or van-pooling, there may be an accident up ahead which will worsen traffic if drivers are rubber-necking, take your pick.

Waiting for the kids to get on the school bus. Been sitting for about 5 minutes or so, this neighborhood must like having kids. I have never seen that many kids get on a bus.

because everyone is trying to go the same place you are. plus, there are a lot more people on the road and states have not expanded most roads to accommodate the increase in drivers
