Go on... admit it. You immediately thought the worst of people. You bought into the media hype from the National Enquirer, and a hundred OTHER Tabloid-style papers, and talked around the water cooler about how JonBenet Ramsey's parents had something to do with her death... like you were some sort of forensic investigator.

Even after the police, and judges, deemed that they were not suspects, you had the audacity to think you knew more than they did, and helped her mother into the grave with the weight of the world on her shoulders...

Now... 10 years later, a man has confessed to the murder, citing evidence that had never been revealed to the public...

How silly do you feel buying into the media's hype, and thinking the worst of people... and WAITING for the police to arrest the father so you could say "I told you so!!!" ... huh? Do you feel ANY remorse?

Or do you STILL ignorantly think there was a cover up and conspiracy?

So, here we are, 10 minutes after I asked the question, and NO ONE has really admitted that they believed the worst of her parents... and MOST people blame the media.

The reason the media publishes this stuff, folks, is because people KEEP PAYING ATTENTION to it... and keep BUYING the magazines... and WATCHING Maury Povich... does anyone have the intestinal fortitude to admit they bought into the hype, and that they were wrong?

So, an hour passes, and still I'm amazed to see that while close to 80% of people believed that the Ramseys were involved in their daughter's murder... no one is willing to admit they were wrong. Obviously none of the 80% are here on Yahoo Answers. What a coincidence!

So... what if the Ramseys were your friends prior to this... And for the last 10 years, you had your suspicions, and distanced yourselves from them... would you have the guts and moral fiber to apologize to Mr. Ramsey?

Probably not...

What a world we live in.

Oh... okay... last point. Mainly because no one is reading this question anymore... Matilda, way below, called this message self-righteous... and to an extent, it is... but I'm not above admitting that *I* believed that the Ramseys were involved in the death of their child... and *I* believed that they considered their child an object to be marketed... and *I* believe some of the tabloid hype.

And if I could, I would apologize to Mr. Ramsey for my attitude, and his loss. Granted... a lot of good it would do now.

So, yes... *I* do feel guilty and silly.

I never bought into the hype, and quite frankly I never cared! I stopped listening to what the media has to say a long, long time ago and I suggest everyone else do the same. Sensationalism is not news, and what we have been seeing for years hasn't been news, it has been some reporter's opinion of the news... that's called an editorial and there is a section of the paper designated for that, or at least it is supposed to be. News programs depend on sponsors and ratings like any show, and therefore they must "sell" their show to make people watch, to get the ratings, to keep the sponsors, so they can make their money. It just isn't news anymore. The only real news these days are the headlines, because they contain all of the info that anyone really needs to know. Everything else is speculation and exaggeration and fillers. So yeah, I didn't know who did it, but I trusted the authorities to find out and didn't spend the last TEN YEARS trying to figure it out for them!

Just as that hype I don not yet believe that this man is guilty. I would have to see the physical evidence that links him to the crime. A person who wants attention, with ten years to accumulate information, could provide a convincing fictional story.

Keep in mind that the tabloid media included the major media. ABC, CBS NBC and the like ALL ran stories.

The largest shame in it all is the death of the young lady, the second the shame that public opinion ( wasn't it once at 78%?)false presumption of guilt. It truly shows the hypocrisy of the American public.

All that being said I believed the family's innocence, but if they find Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman's "real" killer I will totally feel shame.

I don't feel stupid at all. I read the tabloids, yes, but I also read the newspapers, and watched the spots about it on the local news.

I came to the conclusion that I didn't know what to think, and somebody had pulled off the perfect murder.

I am so very glad the guy was caught, and gladder still that he admitted it, although how he can insist her murder was accidental when she was beaten and strangled I dunno.

Grin. Know something....right off the bat, you wrote this letter saying shame on you to everyone and their sainted granny for thinking the parents did it. It was the most self-righteous letter I have ever read to come out of left field, by left field I mean coming out of the blue with no warning.

Makes me go, hmmmmm. Are you, yourself, guilty of the very same thing, and are pointing the finger of blame to everybody to make yourself feel better in your skin????

Remember--the sins we see in others are the sins we ourselves possess :)

Have a wonderful day :)

I don't feel the least bit silly. I never believed that her parents had anything to do with her death. I am glad that they have finally caught the person responsible, I only wish her mom could still be alive to know. I can only imagine the relief that Mr. Ramsey must feel.

I wasn't sure about the parents, but I couldn't think of any reason why a mother who put her daughter in beauty pageants would kill her, or the father. Actually the first thought I had when I heard about that man is good, I hope they really caught the killer. Then I thought Patsy is now in heaven with her daughter, and they are reunited forever.

What !!! , I do not know about you , but I am glad that they finally caught the guy who committed this heinous crime . Since he confessed to killing her he does not even deserve a trial . Just take him out back and put a bullet in his head .
Who said anything about believing a conspiracy theory !!!

i'm angered with the aid of the recent Boulder County DA's determination to re-open the JonBenet case. during the 1st 40 8, the police did compromise the crime scene and allowed associates and kin to realize this, as properly. Patsy Ramsey is deceased. DNA samples taken have not chanced on a experience and are nevertheless indexed as "an unknown male." the previous Boulder County DA issued a assertion exonerating the Ramsey kin in the crime. She issued an apology too. specific, it would stable to discover the killer(s) of JonBenet however the disasters of the police skill we will not in any respect comprehend for specific who killed JonBenet. The re-establishing of her case with the aid of the recent Boulder County DA is a waste of police time and money as no new data has been chanced on nor has the DNA been matched to all people. Madeleine McCann became into abducted from their trip apartment. notwithstanding no physique has been chanced on, many presume she is ineffective. there is not any practicable data pointing to a suspect for this reason. If there ever is, than her abductor and/or killer would be prosecuted. "before you criticize somebody, walk a mile of their shoes." Your comments pertaining to to the father and mom failing to instruct adequate thoughts on the disappearance/dying of their daughters is off the mark. it relatively is no longer needed for them to instruct all people how they are coping with their grief. neither is it user-friendly to think of they committed the crimes when you consider which you at the instant are not happy with the quantity of grief they have shown. The media has exchange into an intrusive and vulgar addition to our lives. specific, the households asked for help yet that doesn't supply the media or you or all people the spectacular to persecute them.
