Must I use a international stamp ?

Can I not use a general stamp ?

You don't say what country you are in. If it is the US, then you can use any combination of stamps that add up to 84 cents. That's for the first ounce - if the letter weighs more than 1 ounce but not more than two ounces, the rate is $1.65. If more than 2 ounces, take it to the post office or look it up on http://www.usps.com

I don't know where you are, but you can always use two or three regular stamps (adding to whatever amount you need) if you have them handy and don't want to go to the post office. If it's just one letter it's not such a huge deal to put a few extra cents on it.

If you are NOT in Germany, use an international stamp of adequate value. Another country from your own is an international country.....

You can just use a air mail stamp or go to the post office and have them put on the appropriate postal rate for you. See link below for rates
