I'm going to Ocho Rios, Jamaica for my honeymoon next year. Other than Dunnes River Falls and swimming with Dolphins, does anyone have any ideas for decent excursions?

Take a tranquil bamboo rafting experience down the Martha Brae River, you and your hubby would enjoy it . Also in Ocho Rios the Chukka Tour groups has lots of fun outdoor activities like: horseback riding, tree gliding, river tubing, four-wheeling, safaris....etc.

Ocho Rios is about a three to four hour ride to Kingston. The Bob Marley museum is a must see (if you are a fan of the Reggae Legend). Also you can take a guided hike up the Blue Mountains. We did that and it was a tiring but memorable experence. Do not be afraid of Kingston, the only rough area is a small pocket downtown where no tour groups go to. the rest of Kingston is beautiful and no one bothers you. Another fun tour is to the Appleton Rum estate. You can also go down to Montego bay from there (about 2 hours ride) and visit Margaritaville. It is a really hip place with lots of entertainment.

Ocho Rios is a really nice tourist town with a lively night-life and lots of activities.

A good way to really see what activities are there to do is to check in with the guest relations or tour desk at the hotel / resort you are staying at. They usually have tons of brochures and tips on things to do and places to visit. Some resorts/hotels would mail you brochures if you contact them or go into any caribbean travel agency and get a few brochures.

Hope you have a great stay in Jamaica. i have been vacationintg there every year since 2000 and love it. Great tropical island, fun people, tasty dishes and ahhhhh yessssss....Red Stripe beers and Appleton Rum. :)

I was in Ocho Rios last year. The Dunns River excursion and swimming with dolphins are both great experiences.

You can do a horse ride around a local plantation which is very tame but still a nice way to spend a couple of hours. There are also helicopter trips available from just outside Ocho Rios.
I would have loved to have gone into Kingston but several people advised us against this on safety grounds.

Great place and I'm looking forward to going back next year for my honeymoon!

Have a lovely time - Congratulations.

I loved the Sunset Cruise and the Snorkeling trip. I believe the Snorkeling trip was $15.00 - $20.00. What a bargain! The Sunset Cruise was $45.00, and included drinks, music, and snacks. I really enjoyed both, and for the price, they were a bargain. I didn't get to swim with the dolphins, as I thought $100.00 was too much to pay. Maybe next time.
Have an excellent time, and remember to treat the people of Jamaica with the respect you wish to be treated with yourself.
I can't wait to go again!

We enjoyed visiting Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in Ocho Rios. The shopping in the same mall is great as well. We stayed at Sandals but enjoyed dining off the resort and Margaritaville is excellent, great patio and waterslide to the poolbar.

If you're going to an all-inclusive resort like Sandals they have a ton of stuff. also, you can go to other Sandals or Beaches resortd free of charge. That's what we did for our honeymoon and we didn't spend a dime for drinks, the bus to and from the resorts or anything as long as you are doing it within their company. They have para-sailing, glass bottom boats, scuba diving, snorkelingand all kinds of watersports for free cuz we were still at the resort. The shopping is good but be prepared to be as pushy as the vendors, they'll mob you just to get your sale. Don't buy cheap shirts cuz the first time you wash them they shrink to nothing, spend a little more and get good quality.

If you know where you are staying check out the resorts web page they usually give you a list of things to do and places to go. I wouldn't worry about it right now! You will have enough stress with the wedding preparations. ~~CONGRATS~~
