I like just taking a moment in the morning and standing on the porch, enjoying the animals in the backyard. Bird songs, coming from every direction - not just noise from two speakers as we usually hear. Squirrels running around, burying nuts. The sound of a gentle breeze moving through the trees. It seems oddly relaxing. You can tell pretty much what is going on by watching. No deception, guilt, or other complex emotions that I can see.

I live in a generally nondescript suburban area - nothing fancy.

Maybe folks with aquariums enjoy the same thing.

But this is free!

Anyone else do something like this?

It's a way of life for me! I live way out in the country, quiet and peaceful. Surrounded by mountains on all sides. My side porch faces east so I can sit there and have my coffee and watch the sun come up every day, unless it's rainy and cloudy. Lots of animals, wild and tame. We have to go outside every time our little dog does to watch for coyotes. See deer all the time, grazing with the cattle and horses. The bird songs are beautiful, coming from all directions and in the trees surrounding the house.

Absolutely. I live near the city park, and the creek runs along the side yard. We have an interesting assortment of animals, including a resident opossum and some skunks that were born this Spring. There were three, but I've only seen one lately Couple of pecan trees, so lots of squirrels, and we have both bird houses and bird feeders. Nothing better than the first cup of coffee on the porch and watch the sun come up.

Sounds like you're in MY backyard? I look out over the highest peaks of the Catskills facing south...and it's a glorious morning! Have a blessed day!

Yes morning coffee on the porch is great. Today, though I take my cell phone, incase any wierdos come walking up to my house like the other day, selling house cleaner. I wondered if they really were going to "clean" me!

I love to hear nature it is more relaxing, when I was growing up we had a lot of woods around us, we were free then to do what we wanted to do and did not have to lock our doors, but the sound from there was just greet and I miss it lucky you.
