The world is dying, its already over populated, every day you find stories of different parts of the planet in a some kind of distress. The salt marshes on the upper east coast, the galciers melting in europe, parts of forrest in various places in the USof A dying out or being mutilated by human meddling, the rainforests all over the world being cut down by greed for temporary wealth. and of course air pollution.
There is more and more starving people in the world now, than there were two years ago.
We're running out of expendable energy sources.

Modern civilization is generating more waste and garbage than ever before, and there is no more places to hide it.

On top of that, there is more civil unrest in our cities, there is more strife between cultures, people are more insular than ever before, the only thing that keeps us from ending it all, is our fears and our denial.

How much time do we really have left? fifty, a hundred years at best?

Humankind is facing challenge in every sense. This makes many extinct but the evolutionary process is on. More capable tougher more fit people will evolve into another being from Homo sapiens to Homo genius. That species lives forever.Humans survived 10000 yrs af anarchy, war, famine. 100 yrs is not much.

We have well over a hundred years worth of expandable crude oil resources. The problem with them is the price of getting that oil will go up. Drillable crude is inexpensive. Coal and Oil Shales are more plentiful but more expensive.

Nuclear energy could trump all of them. It isn't efficient, but the heat energy from nuclear could take water and carbon dioxide and make fuel in great amounts. There is plenty of nuclear energy.

Its not really dying, just changing. They talk about climate change but in truth they suppress reports that the earth is in good shape and they encourage scare stories.

The world is adapting to us a little, too. For instance pigeons, rats, and insects in cities. since we are actually becomng the territory wildlife has to adapt to us now. I think we'll survive, this planet is huge, we might as well put it to some use.

I'm thinking of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs. We have the technology to detect such a worldwide catastrophic event months before it happens, but we still have no plan to save ourselves or our planet. I think we will eventually solve our ecological problems by just sharing knowledge with those who are not aware. I am a member of freecycle, so I'm doing my part. www.freecycle.org

This is too pessimistic. IMO we should think positive and do something positive accordingly. You can start whatever that you think is helpful in prolonging the time we will have. Then you can persuade your friends and groups to do it together. You can even participate in political groups to issue some laws so that the world can enjoy longer time span.
