seems like ive really touched a nerve, i just nursed my father whilst he died, he told me that he had a daughter and a son whilst married to my mother. All my life growing up I was accused of ignoring people in pubs etc, when I knew I wasnt there. Now Im wondering was that my sister? Its scarey enough for people who are adopted but it could happen to anyone.

Unfortunately the chances of things like that happening are growing if they haven't already happened and it's something to really worry about because of the health risk for children born out of marriage where there is an unknown biological connection between the parents. There a several risks for mental handicaps and serious genetic diseases like for example Huntington's disease that shows itself in a later stage when the child is already a grown up.

Woooooooooooooh I guess that could probally happen, God for bid it doesn't happen for the kids sake.I think years ago they gave those blood test out to test to see if the parents where Rh positive and Rh negative, due to the fact that the children would or could have severe problems. They said in studies that the first child would be OK, it's the ones that come after the first child. Something about the blood type does not mix well together. Because it caused severe Damage to the children born to these couples in studies.

It has happened many times in the past.
Of course, if you accept the Biblical story of creation, the entire Human race is the product of incest involving the children of Noah. Perhaps that is way Humans are such despicable creatures.

Yes that is kind of sad when you think about it. The chances are slim but still possible of course. But what about kids who were adopted years and years ago? It could have already happened. At the same time, after reading your question, I thought about everyone I know - including people my age (48), my son's friends (a LOT of them) and I don't know one single person in my life who does not know who their father is. May not live under the same roof, but they know WHO he is. I know a lot of people and have met a lot of people over the years. It may not be quite as widespread as you think.

Unfortunately, it is bound to happen sooner or later.
I pray it never happens to my 3 yr old granddaughter who has never met her biological father. It was his choice and he will have to live the rest of his life wondering if she looks like him or acts like him. So, very sad. It breaks my heart..:(
Edit:
We live in KY and they did require blood test. But for some reason or another, they abolished that law years ago.

I've thought the same thing before. Didn't they used to have blood tests before marrying? In the south at least? Maybe I just dreamed that or something.

this is a creepy subject for me. I was adopted, I do not know my bio-parents in any way. Some times in college I use to get freaked out that this could be my sister.

I'm sure its very likely to happen. Its a very disturbing and incestuous thought, though. Blech!
