It is rumoured , that the attack on Lebanon was orchestrated, as a stepping stone towards bombing Iran's nuclear facilities, in order to deal with Hezbollah and its arsenal, in case of retaliatory actions by the Hezbollah, in the aftermath of a planed US attack on Iran.

Thanx to V :
I do believe you have a valid argument here.
I was aware of that, however, my intention was not to complicate one question into a whole political debate, which is beyond the scope of "Answers"

Unquestionably, but the real target is not the nuclear sites - those are merely the premise, to legitimize the coming invasion. Iran signed it's own death warrant when they decided to start trading oil in Euros.

In 2000 Saddam Hussein announced a new Iraqi oil bourse to trade oil in Euros instead of dollars. (The word "bourse" refers to a stock exchange for securities trading, and is derived from the French stock exchange in Paris, the Federation Internationale des Bourses de Valeurs.)

The world's countries currently need to buy dollars to fund their oil purchases. This bolsters the dollar - the so called 'petrodollar'). If these countries could trade in Euros a lot of them (particularly the Muslim countries) would dump the dollar flooding the market, and destabilising the dollar. The USA would not allow this - bam! ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’ occurs, Iraq is occupied and the 'petroEuro' is immediately abolished.

Now where it gets hairy is that last year Iran announced that in 2006 it would commence trading oil in Euros. This has now been put back to September. You do the math. America would probably invade the United Kingdom if we threatened a Euro based oil exchange.

Read the links below, it all starts to make sense.

No ! It was in response to aggression by Hezbollah, but I am sure that the leadership in Iran will have to go and we will do it. Republicans think the only way for them to stay in power is to keep the wars coming. The US Army is now being held hostage in the desert and my never return. The Iranian president has made the necessity for his demise very clear.

We have learned, I hope, a valuable lesson from the latest 30 day war against Hezbollah. Boots on the ground cost too much to defeat an army residing in caves with rockets. The way to fight this type target is with nuclear to make the land uninhabitable for a long time. Or, we could call the pest control exterminator, Orkin.

The format of your question summed it all up. The answer is right in the question.

I agree that the invasion into Lebanon was a diversion and to plant blame on the Hezbollah while the real plans of attack for Iran are being cooked up. If you follow the socio-economic history of the United States, a war is always used to create diversion of the American people. Diversion from the real happenings in our economy.

Other parts of the world are on the rise..China and India are superpowers to reckon with. China, Japan, India and South Korea are the bankers for the USA. isn't it a shame that we as the 'superpower' of the world owe all these countries? We have surely fallen as the once supreme 'superpower' while other nations have quietly glided past us.

We are in an economic decline with a deficit in the thrillions, high unemployment, a shaky stock market and a corrupt government. These are only some of the base reasons that our government runs off to wars based on LIES (remember the claims that Iraq had WMDs?....never found).

Basically Hezbollah was founded by Iran’s regime as part of their foreign policy which is to terrorising the region because their main slogan is to eliminate Israel from the region .
The time hizballa chose to kidnap the Israeli soldier was a good time to re-direct the international attention from their nuclear crisis.
Iran's main slogan which is to wipe out Israel from the region is still the main tool to achieve the Shiea ‘s Empire in M.East and developing their nuclear program is part of their aim.
In this situation what would be your solution to help Iranian people to have their freedom back and make sure M.East peace will not be undermined by Islamic fundamentalist lead by iran’s regime?

The rumour may not be too far from the truth. But i think one hard lesson they should learn from this is that. 1. the middle east for the first time seem to speak with one voice this time around, despite the inherent differences and dichotomies among them. 2. with all the Israeli's smart munitions, aerial bombardments and latest David's tanks, they still suffer heavy casualties in the hands of well restricted rebels with limited training.

think of doing that to a well trained army with many years of experience and with all the venom in your veins going against the US and her allies. it would definitely be a blood bath.

and you know something, they have also discovered that you don't like suffering casualties. so one dirty bomb may be enough and the rest would be history. it doesn't matter where it landed so long it landed in either Israel or on the allied forces. you would be regretting yourselves for the rest of your lives for such an unnecessary adventure for more oil and money.

Makes sense. I believe there will be an attack on the Iran nuclear research centres. Similar to the one against Iraq in the 80's.

I seriously doubt it. Iran has learned well from the Israeli strike on Iraq's nuclear facilities in the 80's (I think). From what I understand, there really is no way to remove Iran's nuclear program from the air - it's too deep, too protected, and too dispersed.

i think the attack was for this reason and also part of a conspiracy for a 'stray bomb' to destroy the muslim temple in jerusalem so that the 3rd temple could be built to fulfill the jewish prophesy, that when the 3rd temple was built the messiah would come and the battle of armageddon would take place.
