Try doing yoga or other balancing exercises in your bare feet to build up strength in the feet and ankles. That will do you more good in the long run than just treating the symptoms.
FYI - shoes with good support will make you feel better, but you work your foot muscles less when the foot is held rigid.

Try orthodics....They are a little expensive around 300 bucks. However, you can put them in almost any shoe that is flat and you can get hard ones or soft ones. They are specially made for your foot. The store bought ones are a joke. They wil help to keep your feet and ankles in alignment, forcing you to stand properly on your feet and help you to walk correctly. They will also relieve back pain.

Hi,
It depend of many factors.
What it can definitively help is to loose some weight because overweight has a direct effect on joints.
Another way to help is to change your diet and to reduce milk products, meat, alcohol and tabacco because it brings a lot of toxin which are difficult to be cleaned by your body.
If you got this health problem because of an accident or injury this requires help of a chiropractor and osteopath to release pain and to re-balance your skeleton.
if it doesn't come from accident or injury, Chinese exercises like TaiChi really helps your body to get back to a good flexibility.
To help the detoxification process you can drink regularly some HARPAGOPHYTUM tea or glucosamine tablets taken along with the cartilage-building compound chondroitin sulfate are well known to help to release joints problems but it work on the long run.
Arnica in homeopathic treatment is quite efficient too.
I hope these few basic information will help you to reduce pain and discomfort.

Go see a podiatrist that also has specialty with ankles. They can take x-rays and see if there is a problem. They will also tell you the best type of shoes for you. Sometimes people need special inserts. Take care of those feet! Get them to a podiatrist soon!

Make sure your shoes give you the correct support and comfort. Gel insoles could help as well. I noticed someone mentioned magnetic insoles... i would advise against that, there is no medical evidence to support magnet therapy.
good luck
