Yes it was ..too "artsy" as you say. We used to love and go see it on Sunday double-bills..Harlon Ellison the writer ,Don Johnson lost and the.. Dog.
No,you have several choices...I've heard stories about people going to see the original "Planet of the Apes" on ayseed....Plenty of film out there...there's more than you think.

I watched the trailer for it, and it looks strange and funny . I am sure Don Johnson is proud of this one.
