The answer regarding hurricanes is actually addressed in NOAA's FAQ's:

As for tornadoes, well, yes, tornadoes could be completely wiped out by a good-size nuke. This is speculation by me, but as a stormchaser who is quite versed on the dynamics inherent to a tornadic thunderstorm, I say yes. Atmospheric conditions have to be JUST right for a tornado to occur (tornadogenesis), and the shock wave alone from a nuke would eliminate those JUST right conditions; especially the inflow at the base of the storm. On top of that, the heat and upward propagating shock wave would seriously disrupt the storm's rotation and thermodynamics.

Presuming you could deliver a nuke to a tornado, certainly a nuke will disrupt it. However the nuke would more than likely cause more damage to the surrounding area than the tornado would... we would have been better off with the tornado.

A nuke would not dent a hurricane... Hurricanes possess too much energy to be affected by something that puny.

Tornado yes, the heat would screw with the dynamics of the tornado.

Hurricane no. Hurricanes are just too massive to care about something like a nuke.

Probably a tornado - probably not a hurricane. The area and affects of fallout would probaly be altered aswell - probably not in a good way.

Shooting a nuke against a tornado would be like shooting a train with a bullet. A tornado is WAY more powerful than a nuke.

You can take out the tornado.. and you might disrupt the hurricane just a tad bit.

I think you might be able to stop a tornado but they are pretty unpredictable so you better have a very fast and very good tracking and targetting system -- and I based that on absolutely nothing.

This is pretty much the same as peeing on an electric fence.

Sure it could, but more lives would be sacrificed.
