I received a letter in the post today saying that I had won 5000 pounds and would get a cheque if I pay 20 pounds in 10 days. I don't ever remember liaisng with this company from Canada or ever entering a competition. Does anyone know anything about this. I'm not going to reply - they even mispelled my surname so that should be a sign to not reply to them.

Cons work on the principle of greed.
You want £5000 - so does everybody.
A tiny few will send the £20
The large majority will not.
1000 people send £20 = £20,000
Not bad for sending out some crappy letters.
Fools can be fooled some of the time.
You don't get nowt for nowt in this world.

btw - you are not the only one - dont beat yourself up over it !

Ummm. . . junk mail. Its a con.

Don't send them anything.

The best way to deal with junk mail like this is stuff everything the send you into the prepaid envelope provided and send it back to them. They'll have to pay the postage on it!
