Given evolution continues, who might follow Homo Sapien, Thinking Man? How might they differ from us? When the conditions approach for the extinction of Thinking Man, will this new species of man emerge? If so, are not their seeds already among us? What might they call themselves?

Since we are the first species of man to develop writen records, their will be plenty of documentation for study once extinction occurs. We study past species of man will great zeal, as would any species who might inherit the earth from us. Futhermore, It's likely that a new species of man would actually walk among us during the extinction process, and our collective knowledge would be passed along.
Sure, war and overuse of resources may cause our extinction, but perhaps a new species of man may evolve that requires less nourishment, or can tolerated broader temperature changes, or whatever.

HOMO SAPIEN II

It's an interesting question, however not much can be said currently about it. Given that somehow, at least one individual will require a random genetic mutation, we are left to wonder with what could happen.

Will the new species, given its proper Latin denomination, be more intelligent than us? Have more abilities? There are countless things that could occur.

One factor that differs now from the past however, is the fact that we, as homo sapiens, have already adapted to the varying climates of the world. Unless a cataclysmic event or animals genetically mutate, we are not in need to adapt to anything.

And it is not as if when the extinction of man will occur, this new species will emerge. A new species could emerge today or tomorrow due to a random genetical mutation. The seeds for this new species are not amongst us. Everything in the universe is random. Unless an individual's genes (or simply one gene) are different from anyone else's, creating an added benefit for survival, and unless that person passes on the gene, nothing will happen. It is not as if we have the seed, but it is not becoming apparent because man has yet to become extinct.

And most likely, this new species will call themselves whatever they want. Whether they follow our nomenclature or not, it is their decision. We can only guess at their intelligence level, their power, and their adaptability for survival.

The possibilities are undefined. However, we need to make something clear. Evolution tends to occur when a situation warrants it and in other words forces an organism to change its survival tactics in a changing environment. I'm not implying that the world isn't changing, however, if humans cannot adapt to our changing environment due to overuse of resources, war, disease, and famine etc, not only will genetic mutation be little help, there is no need for evolution, we'll eventually die out. Having said that, I can say that the seeds are among us, it is those who are taking the initiative to promote a better world are our new species. They've been among us for some time, its just that we don't realize their efforts. Having the ability think and use tools is one thing, but if you don't take the initiative, its pointless

I think we're already evolving with each generation. Each generation of children are born smarter than the one before them. Only problem is the generations before them usually **** them up in the head before they can develope into anything highly scientific in nature. On top of that, we're ******* the planet up for future generations so even if they are evovled, they've got their work cut out for them. I don't think extinction is anywhere in the cards for humans, because mankind is resiliant and will find a way to survive. That of course doesn't mean we won't make it to the endangered species list though.

Most people theorise the next biological evolution will be self inflicted. The most common refrence is Post-Humanity. The latin names depend on wether you talk about advancement through,
- Social Evolution
- Mutation
- Genetic Tailoring
- Cybernetics
- Ascendence

Look up the Singularity, and Omega Point for more refrence.

Maybe they will use other spelling than we do, actually writing "sapien" instead of "sapiens".
