Every Wednesday my TV guide says "Lost" will be on Wednesday night, and when it comes time, they put that garbage on. Four episodes in a row of an unfunny sitcom!!! I am trying to catch up on Lost for when the new season starts--I missed the Second Season the first time it aired, so when the new season starts in October, I truly will be "lost." Thanks, ABC!!!

I am not asking if you LIKE the show, or even about the ratings--I understand all that. But WHY do they schedule the show then pull it? ABC is tanking in the ratings this summer, and George Lopez isn't exactly burning up the Nielsens.

ABC has taken a lot of heat from viewers about their scheduling of "Lost," with all the mid-season repeats, weeks off-schedule, and so on. I heard that they had learned their lesson, and that "Lost" would appear more regularly during the next season. The plan was to show several weeks of episodes, then take several weeks off, but they would keep viewers informed about when the new shows would air.
Summer used to be the season of re-runs, when viewers could catch up with missed episodes, but not any more. Networks are more likely to show re-runs during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays when viewers are too busy to watch new episodes (that was formerly the reason for summer re-runs as well - people watch TV less during the summer). Now, like you, I'm mystified by the networks' approach to scheduling. It's just nonsensical to move shows or change their times with no notice, and to fail to show re-runs of popular shows.
Contrary to what some people have said here, it's my guess that ABC is trying to build viewership for George Lopez's show in order to boost its ratings during the regular season. The Lopez show was a poor lead-in to a show like "Lost," so I hope ABC re-vamps the whole lineup.

I agree, it is very annoying. If you are using the paper or TV Guide, it is printed up too far in advance. If you are using the guide on the cable - I have found problems there, too.
I will agree and say rent the dvd or download it. ABC seems to pulling/moving/cancelling a lot of shows. When the new season starts, they will play musical chairs with the shows until they are all cancelled...

That is exactly why I stopped watching the show. It's was a great show, but even during the regular season the either show repeats for weeks or promise a new episode and show a repeat. Too bad - that's probably why the show had such a drop in viewers last season....

THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to catch up, and for the past four (?) weeks, it's been either George Lopez or Prime Time. FYI: There is a website - www.lost-tv.com - that has transcripts of all the episodes from both seasons. I may not have seen it, but at least I know what happened. And a boo-hiss to ABC.

It is to trick people into watching a mediocre show. A simple case of the old bait and switch.

I believe you may already be "lost". The networks do it for ratings. For every one person that would rather see a rerun of that slow, boring show there are ten to fifteen people who would rather see George Lopez. Ideally, they want to play to the largest audience it can get.
That just says that the George Lopez show is better than Lost.
