I talk 2 myself when I'm alone.I play out actual events that occured in my life, but I play then out a little differently.Example:Let's say I went 2 the store and bumped into a friend and we chatted,,well when I'm alone I'll replay the encounter except with slightly different dialogue.....Can someone tell me what this is and how I might be able to help myself??

uhhh, sounds to me like you're bored. your mind/brain is bored. you are probably quite intelligent and not giving your brain enough exercise. (same goes to all who responded)
try reading, working out. listen to all types of music, not just your favorites. foreign films.
soon you'll have lots of things to chat about with your friends.

This is normal - and there's nothing wrong with it - it builds good commuincation skills and it allows you to go back and gain control of a conversation that mayb you felt inferior in. I do this driving down the road all the time and have found that many people do this simple coping mechanism in order to better prepare themselves for similar future encounter. Don't worry, you're in the marjority and you're ok!!

I think it's just fine. You're thinking about how things could have gone differently and that helps you to make future encounters different. I do that from time to time. When I was younger, I used to make myself a character in a TV show and change that way that things happened.

According to a friend of mine who knows about these things, yes this is normal. Its a way of communication, resolving issues, and flexes the brain muscle. Just be careful that you dont say stuff too loud......

It may be a bit weird, but it could also be a healthy defense mechanism that would not only allow you to look at a situation on another plane.
But then again, IMHO, it could be distressing when you're overdoing it. Ciao.

You play it out differently? Something you wish you'd said or done differently perhaps?
