Considering the popularity and quality of education that is being imparted, it is not wrong if we increase the number of IITs and IIMs to another five in each category. Many students from abroad are coming to India seeking admissions in these institutions. Neighbouring countries are also evincing keen interest in establishing the branches of these institutions. Instead of increasing the capacity of seats in each institution, it is better to disperse these geographically so that each State in our country could get at least one institution. Most important is that these institutions should be kept away from political interference. We can definitely prove that we are in no way inferior to any foreign country in providing quality education.

Number of such Instt. should be increased to primarily take care of the huge demand who are all at par but are let down due to shortage of seats.

Care should be taken to increase / decrease their rating based on their performance/ student performance.

A dilution in the rating can only be increased after two consecutive years of maintaining a higher standard.eg let the rating be A+++/A++/A+/B+++/B++/....till C.
say an Instt X of rating A+ falls to B+++. It can go down to B++ in the next year based on perfomance.
But to gain back the A+ status back it has to maintain at A+ level for 2 consec years .
Till such time it has the status O1/B+++ then O2/B+++
where O - under observation/ 1 -2 - years

Since their fee structure is very nominal students should be asked to remain in India for a period of two years at least.

Of course there shld be increase in the number of seats .....cuz very diamonds are found and they are 2 expensive to hire.........More number of ppl are capable for the same ........Also .....The IIM has less number of girls (cuz engineers pass rather more ........there are few girls in engg)......Also the IIM and IIT has to maintain a diversified culture

Increase in number of seats would have no impact on the brand image. It is the quality of selection procedure and person that matters. I think it is imperative to equate diamonds with persons/IIMs/IITians. Particlularly you should discourage "Great Souls" like Arjun Singh/VP Singh.
