At advanced level,

limewater is aqueous Calcium (II) hydroxide, Ca(OH)2 (aq)

CO2 (g) + Ca(OH)2 (aq) --> CaCO3 (s) +H2O (l)

CaCO3 is a white precipitate. Chemists do not call CaCO3 as chalky.

This is a test for carbon dioxide gas.

When carbon dioxide is passed into limewater, a white precipitate of calcium carbonate is seen.

when you blow through a straw into limewater the carbon dioxide in your breath make the limewater go cloudy (precipitate).

This precipitate is CaCO3. Calcium carbonate, like chalk.
