watch out for cars, because anymore, they are certainly not looking out for you. Just use good judgement, keep your bike in good working order, and if you ride at night wear reflective clothing. I love riding...it is fantastic excercise and saves on gas! Good luck!

Not at all, it is a very fun and enjoyable sport, and a great way to get fit !

Best advice is to wear a helmet, it may not be the most "cool" thing to wear, but really will save your head in an accident.
Also maybe even a reflective belt/strap.

If you cycle on main roads, pay attention to road markings and traffic lights, as other road users don't often see cyclists as easiy as other traffic/cars!

If you are able to cycle on off-road paths, thats even better, and you can enjoy the countryside.

.....the only down-side, would be the risk of getting hit by a motor vehicle.

Riding a bicycle have no disadvantage.
But peoples with respatory disease like asthma or heart patient must avoid hafty cycling.
