It's because it is a certain protein causes the 'tanning'. Proteins pretty much always smell like that, especially when in concnetrated form (ie, not in foods).

Try some of the new "hint of self tan" moisturizers on the market, like Dove, Novae or Johnson and Johnson.
They take a few days to gradually build up to a tan, but smell lovely!

Hi, it does doesnt it, i found even the ones gradual tanning ones smell to. I bought quite an expensive one and it still smells the same it must be an ingreant they have to put in it to tan your skin. The smell lasts for ages as well. Yuk, its dead sickly.
