It's a test. Women want mates who don't "let go" . . . no matter what. When you "let go" and you lose the girl, it's because she was shopping for a life-long mate. Once you "let go", you've failed the test . . . and you're history.

Sometimes they're not PLAYING hard to get. They're BEING hard to get, and they're being hard to get because they don't want to be gotten by someone (you).
If you "lose them" by letting go that's just another sign that they didn't want to be with you but may have temporarily been with you because you kept pursuing them.
You may be overestimating how "down for you" these girls really are.
Of course, there are a few girls who will play games, but don't bother with them anyway. If you run into the girl who is right for you (even if that's just for now) she won't play hard-to-get and you won't have to worry about losing her if you "let go".

They're more into the game than they are into the person--and that's really sad.
