Teenagers need far more sleep than older people do. You are not getting nearly enough sleep. Eight hours is the number that is generally suggested for adults, although not all adults get or need quite that much.

I believe I've heard that teenagers require at least nine hours of sleep. Recently, it came out on the news that it is now believed insufficent sleep on a regular basis can make people age earlier than they otherwise would.

There isn't much you can do to stop feeling sleepy in class other than 1) trying to get at least another hour or sleep a night most of the time and 2) try getting up in time to make sure you have a breakfast that will get your blood sugar levels to where they should be (low blood sugar from not eating for a long time can make you feel like you need to sleep too).

I do not think that 6.5-7hrs of sleep is enough.
However, most teens over here sleep only that much.
When I was 15, I slept less than 6hrs every night because there were too much homework & projects too do, and not to mention studying for tests almost every week.
Now that I'm already working, I hardly get enough sleep too because of other reasons.
It's not easy to get enough sleep when you're in a fast-paced and demanding society.
I can't tell you what you can do to not feel sleepy in class, except to get more sleep at night.
We all actually DO need it.

Sleep more! Teens are notorious for needing insane amounts of sleep. Go to bed earlier - you ought to have at least 8, but probably 9-10 hours of sleep a night! After all, you're rapidly growing into an adult, your body is going through lots of changes, and you're studying hard (or should be) in school. Most teens have active social lives, maybe sports, etc - all of this requires energy, and energy comes from sleep. :)

Try to get no less than 8 hours of sleep each night, as a minimum.

Yes it is. Matter of fact sleep researchers are still recommending that the average adult get a full 8 hours of sleep. Especially teenagers.
