My guinea pig just gave birth, and all of the babies are healthy. One of them is a tan color with red eyes, while the rest of them have black eyes. Does this mean anything significant? Or is it just an eye color?

Color of the eyes is a genetic feature,
it seems that in guinea pigs the black color of the eyes is a dominant character, therefore it is seen in most of them.

Only one of them received both the recessive genes for red eye color and it showed!

I am sure both the parents have black eyes.

There is nothing to worry about.

The red eyed darling should be your special ' blue eyed' darling.

I hope you know the meaning of the above expression!

Edit:- No worry ! Guinea pig mothers are strictly vegetarian , they don't eat their babies. Moreover it is normal for her, only you are disturbed.

It's just the eye colour - all white guinea pigs have red eyes and some golden ones as well - nothing to worry about.

Nah, it's just a genetic quirk. Nothing to worry about. The only point to be aware of is that the animal wil be more sensitive to sunlight, so don't leave it outside in without shelter.

Yeah, that's just a trait; it's normal for guinea pigs, and may be a trait of albinism (absence of pigment in skin, hair and eyes), but if the mother senses something is wrong with it, she'll eat it.
