you needed to list your vehicle. some ignitions are on the dash, some are on the column. If the Ignition is broken (did someone try to steal your car?) It would be cheaper to get the steering column replaced (if the ignition is on the column) as there is a risk of damaging your electical system if you do not know what you are doing.

It would help if I knew what sort of car you had this on.
