then why do some people have a hard time getting simple jokes?

the joke must be pointed out to them in order for them to get it, by that time the joke lost its wit already!

and they do spoil the fun, don't you agree?

Common sense has nothing to do with jokes. Sense of humor determines that.

No, common sense is not that common as many of us think it to be. And for this reason, jokes really lose its fun and wit both.
Actually, for common sense too, it needs a certain level of maturity of ones mental faculty, lacking of which makes common sense, in many cases, mostly uncommon.

I don't think you have to have common sense to get a joke. I think you have to be brought up with a family that kids around and tells jokes; otherwise, people don't develop a sense of humor and are clueless when people joke around.

most of the people here have some kind agenda and no common sense to look up their answer at a respected website.
no common sense, that's why i like watching a version of jerry springer here.

I think common sense is the highest form of intelligence. Not that many people have true common sense and witt!

common sense is a very good thing to have....its not very common amongst the crowd...in some situations i myslelf do not use my common sense and spoil the whole fun :P

common sense is very uncommon amongst common people.
but it is very common in uncommon people.
its like -
the private faces in public places are better & nicer than public faces in private places.
