It's called a dinnerplate dahlia. Blooms in late summer. They grow from bulbous roots which must be dug up in fall and stored over the winter. They're available in a variety of colors. Next spring, pick them up in hardware stores or any nursery.

The flower looks like a dahlia as does the stem. I am not sure of about the leaves -- if they are in the photo or not.

Oh pretty!! That is a dahlia!!! They are so beautiful and come in many colors and sizes! Some have this really dark colored foliage that is just wonderful!!
