Sorry I DO NOT agree with most answers given by the community. In theory the reason is that the man wants to be the first and the only one and bla bla, but the hidden reason is that in a man's world like the Arab's world if a man takes a woman who had been with another one before him he fears to be a fool and to be fooled by all other man (how other men could know about it? Easy. The gossip, the man's tam tam like in south Italy where men stand all day into the cafè talking about their sexual performances with someone else's wife). I know this because I lived so many years in an Islamic country and I talked to the locals men. Do not be romantic about this, the rality is so different....

Because, in the Islamic religion (like in Christianity) the believe is that you are keeping yourself pure for you're wedding day.
A woman who is not a virgin is considered dirty and impure.
A lot of Christians believe the same thing, but aren't as strict about in forcing it.
Not all Arabs are like this though, only the ones who are very strict about their religion.
It is not for us to ever criticize how others lead their life's.

I don't know too much about the arab culture, but many cultures keep women in submission through sex. Basically, it's the whole double standard. It's okay for men to have premarital sex, but if it's a female, she's seen as impure.

Yes it is, they want to be the one and only man in her life, that applies of course only where a virginity can be found and shown. If the girls has sucked an army it´s not a problem......

It is because they view there wives as property , therefore a woman who is not a virgin is second hand and not as valuable .
