It's pretty straightforward. Your presence in Germany requires regisration with the "Einwohnerledeamt" (citizens' registry). Once they know you are there (they are usually located in the town council, or "Rathaus" - if not, try looking for the "Buergerbuero", that's the same thing), your children will have a place in a public school. That would be the school that's nearest to where you live in town. Please don't be too surprised if you won't find the people too helpful or friendly, that's none of your fault - it's simply a country where foreigners are still considered exotic, and you may have noticed by now that their Englsih isn't always up to it, either. They will do the best they can, which, if you give them time, you'll see is pretty amazingly good; but being nice isn't exactly their strong point (I know because I've lived there, too, for many years). So, find the Meldeamt, get registered, and ask for a school for your kids to go to.

He believed in a miles better Germany which consists of a number of those locations - something Bismarck did no longer do or desire whilst growing to be the German Empire, Austria became into Hitler's first place when you consider that he became into in spite of each and every thing an Austrian himself yet continuously seen himself a German and prefer many Pan-Germans in Austria observed the Austrians as Germans, for this reason why the Anschluss became into welcomed with open hands.

I don't really understand why you can stay til January. What kind of visa do you have? It can't be a tourist visa and if you have a work visa that would mean either you or your husband had a job for sure before you entered the country. If you are planning on immigrating the visa would not be limited til January. So what kind of visa or permit do you have?Seems a bit weired to me.

What Tahini Raving Weirdo has said (only that the name of the place is EINWOHNERMELDEAMT, check out, for example, here: http://www.en.uni-muenchen.de/research/visitingscholars/legal/registrationetc/index.html), plus:

- as an EU citizen, both you and your husband can work without a problem in Germany, in ANY job.
- The "Jugendamt" in your district deals with schools, and any child of someone who stays legally in Germany, including people who stay for only a limited period of time, can go to school.

Don't worry and post your questions (including to the german formalitites) here, one of us is bound to help.

Only one problem Berliner, England is not part of the EU. Remember, they didn't want to join. Regardless of this, Tahini is correct.
