Technically they say that athlon 64 is the best but however I would prefer Intel Pentium 4 because it is more widely used and preferred processor.

Well when you compare equal models of each chip, it really just comes down to what you're doing. The Athlon 64 outperforms the Pentium 4 when it comes to gaming and the Pentium 4 outperforms the Athlong 64 when it comes to multi-tasking however they're both very good chips. I prefer the AMD Athlong 64.

The AMD Athlon is superior when it comes to performance due to its double cache memory L1 and L2(now adopted to P4 as well),but the P4 is very good with a lot of applications and is compatible with several motherboard brands,unlike the Athlon Processor.
